The Model 3 Power Trunk is based on the model year. The 2017 2018 has a slightly smaller CANBUS connector whereas the 2019-2020 is slightly larger. Please make sure you order the correct year model to ensure that the connector fits, so that it can communicate with the vehicle.

- T25 Torx bit
- 8mm Socket

- Wrench 6” impact extension
- Electrical Tape
- Painter’s Tape Drill
- Pry tools (the kit does come with some)
- Fish wire (the kit comes with a short one, but I prefer using a longer one for pulling leverage)
- WD40 Silicone Lubricant Gloves
- Flathead screwdriver
- Floodlight/flashlight/headlight (a light you can use easily to see in the tight spaces)

Can the power trunk be activated from the touchscreen?
Yes, the trunk can be activated from the screen, it uses the seat sensor to trick and actually communicates with the CANBUS or the computer of the vehicle to know whether it should show the button or not.
Do I need to drill for installation?
You do not have to drill for this latest version.
