The skid plates are quality and the fit is perfect (almost). These plates were installed on a 2 week old Model Y. The front plate went on perfect (I used a QuickJack to lift it 2’, made install much easier). Took all of 15 minutes (I used air tools). The rear plate is where I ran into trouble. Tesla uses a brass insert (at least it looks brass) pressed into the steel crossmember. The bolts that hold on the plastic aero cover thread into these inserts. Two of the bolts would not come out, they simply spun because the insert had come loose (but not loose enough to drop out). It took over an hour but I was finally able to apply enough downward pressure on the bolt using a small crowbar (after breaking away the plastic aero cover around it). This allowed me to back the bolt out. I did not reinsert these 2 bolts (one of the bolts was at the rear and there is actually a 3rd insert that is not used. I simply drilled a hole in the new skid plate and used this 3rd insert for one of the bolts so technically I’m only missing one bolt. The fitment issue is that the rear plastic aero cover has an “arm” on either side of the cover where the rear wheel well cover attaches with a plastic rivet. The new plate does not have these arms so the little piece of material from the wheel well covers just flaps around. Not a huge deal but would be nice if they gave you some type of plastic or metal connector that joined them together. All in all though, I love these skid plates. Definitely feel I have more protection than the factory gives you.
(This is my honest review for products which I paid full price; I have no affiliation or sponsorship.) Had the full set installed a while back on my 2020 Model Y in preparation before lowering the suspension. My order was shipped and delivered within 4 days. Installation was a breeze; I did have access to a lift but this easy bolt on job can also be accomplished with a pair of jack stands in your garage/driveway. Took less than an hour (and that was with me being distracted looking at the cool dual motors/drivetrain parts underneath). The aluminum material is solid and fit like factory parts. Love the black powder coat finish and the included sound insulation on the insides. Have had them on for a few months now with no issues, other than piece of mind, especially since I have a pretty aggressive suspension drop on coil overs. After researching similar products from other companies, here’s how these compare: MPP looks nice but is silver/not powder coated and only available for the front. Evannex just released their version but also only for the front and not powder coated; their rear option is $$$ and for Model 3s only. RPM has the most similar products but they are over $50 more (including their fake and misleading sales/discounts off high retail prices) plus another $100 just for shipping; not to mention good luck receiving your order any time soon. For me, it was an easy decision to buy from an authentic, American family run business, who actually has the products in stock and offers free shipping. No smoke, no mirrors, no misleading sales jargon.
