Tesla launched a GitHub repository that allows you to change your Cybertruck using a PNG template (hurray), and we’ll walk you through the process of editing the template easily using Photoshop.
The repository provides various examples and templates. However, the template had an outline that made it difficult to edit.
If you look at the original template, you will see a dark outline that makes it more challenging to overlay a new design. To make it simpler, we created a simple black template using the original one.
How To Create Custom Wrap With Photoshop
- Download template above. This is the same resolution and settings as the original one and will be in PNG format.
- Import this image to Photoshop. Since it has the transparency function saved into the file, you should see checkered in areas that are transparent.
- Import the pattern that you want. Once imported, go ahead and size it in relation to the file.
- Make sure it’s above the template layer. This is an important step and will not work if it’s below the template.
- Create a clipping mask. This will ensure that it removes all the designs outside of the template.
- Save. Since it has the original settings, you should be good to go! Just make sure you save it again in PNG. That’s the most important step.
Download the PNG file below.
Not Everyone Has Photoshop
We know not everyone has access to Photoshop, so we made it even easier. Go here to upload your design right into our pre-made template and download the file from there, bypassing the need for Photoshop.
- Upload your image
- Position design
- Download file
During the time this was written, the holiday update hasn’t been released yet. But from the X post, it said that you can “Use one of many preloaded designs or create and upload custom ones using a USB flash drive.”
