We typically have PPF professionally installed on our new vehicles, but our last experience wasn’t great—the edges started to lift, and dirt collected underneath. When we purchased our Model Y Juniper, we decided to try the Tesbros DIY PPF kit based on all the positive reviews and installation videos.
The provided instructions and videos were very helpful—I suggest watching them a couple of times before starting. I realized that my previous installer likely didn’t prep the car as thoroughly as Tesbros recommends, which caused my earlier issues. Prep is key: clean the car thoroughly, especially the crevices, and seal all the edges with the TAC solution.
The kit comes with alcohol and slip solution, with the slip portion pre-measured in a packet for the included spray bottle, which made things very easy. Unfortunately, one of the two spray bottles included in the kit was defective, so I had to purchase another one to complete the job.
I prepped my garage and car Saturday night, then installed everything on Sunday. I was able to complete the front bumper, full hood, and full fenders in one day. One tip: definitely remove the fender camera as shown in the Tesbros video—it makes the process much smoother.
The results were excellent. I made a mistake on the bumper, but Tesbros sent me a replacement, which I really appreciated. After finishing, I let the car sit out in the New Mexico sun, and within a couple of days, the small bubbles I had left disappeared.
At first, I was…
Installing the Tesbros full front PPF kit on my refreshed Model Y Juniper was surprisingly smooth. The pre-cut pieces fit the updated body lines perfectly, especially around the hood and bumper contours. Their video instructions were clear and paced well—ideal for a first-time installer. With the right slip/tack solution and a bit of patience, I got a clean, bubble-free finish that looks factory-grade. The film is practically invisible and hugs the curves beautifully. For a DIY job, the fit and finish exceeded expectations.
It was my first time doing this and it came out pretty well. Instructions and everything you need is included.
Very precise cut that fits perfectly !!!
The PPF kit was complete with more than what I needed to get the job done.
The video tutorials were really clear and I would have really made a mess if I didn't follow them to the "T".
I made a couple mistakes because I rushed a couple places and wasn't as thorough as I could have been however, the finished job really came out good.
Use the slip solution 2x more than you think. Make sure the WHOLE piece can move during the whole time. Tac your anchors with care and patience and don't skip a tac/anchor location, it will all come together with patience.
