Upgrading your Tesla Model Y Juniper with a carbon fiber spoiler not only enhances its sporty look but also gives it that OEM style finish. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about choosing and installing a spoiler—step by step.

Choosing the Right Spoiler

We sourced two variations of real carbon fiber spoilers for the Model Y Juniper:

  • Matte Finish – This is the look that comes standard on the Performance variant in Europe – Making its way to the US soon. It has a subtle, premium appearance.

  • Gloss Finish – A shinier, reflective option that stands out more, depending on your preference.

Both versions are genuine carbon fiber (not printed patterns) and use adhesive for installation rather than bolts. This means the prep and alignment process is critical to ensure a secure fit.

Prep Work: Clean and Ready the Surface

Before installing, start with a clean car.

  1. Wash the vehicle thoroughly.

  2. Wipe down the trunk area with an 80/20 mix of isopropyl water and alcohol using a microfiber towel.

  3. Pay special attention to the “U” edge of the trunk—make sure all residue and contaminants are removed.

  4. If necessary (especially on older vehicles), consider using a clay bar for an extra clean surface.

Using the Alignment Guides

Our spoiler kit includes vinyl alignment guides. These guides make installation much easier:

  1. Place the vinyl guides on both sides of the trunk.

  2. Slide them into position, ensuring they align with the edges and the pillar for proper placement.

  3. Double-check spacing on both sides to confirm symmetry.

Since the guides are removable vinyl, you can reposition as needed without damaging the paint.

Installing the Spoiler

  1. Peel Back the Tape: Start by exposing about 2 inches of the double-sided adhesive tape in the middle of the spoiler on both the top and bottom. Leave the rest covered so you can reposition if necessary.

  2. Align the Spoiler: With the guides in place, carefully align the spoiler with both edges of the trunk within the alignment guides.

  3. Secure in Sections: Gradually peel the tape backing from each side while pressing the spoiler into place. Work evenly from middle out to the sides.

  4. Apply Pressure: Pay extra attention to the ends, where many people struggle. Apply firm, consistent pressure to ensure the tape bonds completely.

⚠️ Pro Tip: Do not drive immediately in the rain or wash the car right after installation. Allow time for the adhesive to cure.

Reinforcing the Bond

To ensure maximum adhesion, the kit also includes additional vinyl strips:

  • Apply these strips across the spoiler, pulling them tight so they press the spoiler firmly against the trunk.

  • Distribute them evenly across the length of the spoiler.

  • Leave them in place overnight (about 12 hours) for best results.

The vinyl is high quality and will peel off cleanly in the morning without residue.

Final Steps

  1. Remove the alignment guides and vinyl strips.

  2. Check for even spacing and adhesion.

  3. Enjoy the new look—your Model Y Juniper now has a Performance-inspired edge.

(And no, it doesn’t actually add 5 horsepower—just kidding!)

Matte or Gloss? Which Should You Choose?

  • Matte: Subtle, OEM-like, matches the Performance edition look.

  • Gloss: Bold, reflective, and eye-catching.

Ultimately, it comes down to personal style.
