What is Tesla’s Autopilot?
Autopilot or now more frequently called Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) is an optional driver-assist system for Tesla vehicles. Some hardware versions are promised with the full self-driving feature.
The autopilot feature allows the vehicles to auto steer, adjust speed, apply brakes, and self-park by utilizing multiple radars, cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and GPS.
There are currently four hardware versions for the autopilot: 1, 2, 2.5, and 3.0.

Autopilot is a great technology but it’s important to know that it is not yet a full self-driving technology. AP 2 and up have the capabilities, but we won’t know for sure when FSD will become available.
Note: When buying used cars on the Tesla website, if it is an AP1, it will just say Autopilot with Convenience Features. If it says Enhanced Autopilot, it refers to 2 or 2.5.
