Keeping your Tesla Cybertruck’s cabin air fresh and clean is essential for a comfortable driving experience. Thankfully, replacing the cabin air filter in the Cybertruck is easier than ever. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to get the job done right.
Tools You’ll Need:
- Your hands (really, it’s that easy!)
- Trim tools (optional)
- 8mm socket wrench
- New air filter
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Locate the Air Filter Compartment
Unlike older Tesla models like the 2018 Model 3, where accessing the air filter was a bit tricky, the Cybertruck makes things much simpler. The cabin air filter is conveniently located in the frunk (front trunk). - Remove the Cover Plate
You’ll see a plate inside the frunk with grooves along the edges. Simply slide your fingers underneath the grooves and pull back gently. The plate is held in place by metal clips that use friction to stay secure. A little tug is all it takes to pop it off. - Check for Bolts
Some Cybertruck models may have 2 8mm bolts securing the filter cover. In our case, the bolts were missing, but if yours has one, use the appropriate socket wrench to remove it. - Avoid Breaking the Tabs
This is crucial: The tabs on the cover are quite fragile. Instead of pushing them down, gently pull them up to release the cover. This prevents accidental breakage. - Remove the Old Filter
With the cover off, you’ll see the air filter inside. Pull it straight out. The filter is quite large—about 2.5 inches thick—but it should slide out smoothly. Inspect the old filter; if it’s dusty or clogged, it’s definitely time for a replacement. - Inspect and Clean the Filter Area
Before inserting the new filter, take a moment to inspect the filter housing. Look for any debris or dust buildup. If necessary, wipe the area clean to ensure optimal airflow. - Insert the New Filter
Make sure the airflow arrows on the new filter are pointing in the correct direction (usually marked on the filter itself). Slide the new filter into place, ensuring it fits snugly. - Reattach the Cover Plate
Line up the tabs with the corresponding holes and push the cover back into place until you hear the clips snap securely. If your model has bolts, reattach them. - Close the Frunk
Once everything is back in place, close the frunk, and you’re good to go!
When to Replace Your Cabin Air Filter:
- Humid Climates: If you live in a humid area like Florida, consider replacing the filter at least once a year.
- Dry or Cold Climates: In less humid regions, you may only need to replace the filter every couple of years.
- Signs You Need a Replacement: If you notice a musty smell or reduced airflow from your AC, it’s time to change the filter.
Replacing your Cybertruck’s cabin air filter is a quick and straightforward process that ensures you’re breathing clean, fresh air on every drive.
