Today, we’re diving into the installation of a stunning new film from Ivios, a South Korean company known for their cutting-edge protective films. This isn’t just any PPF—we’re talking about their forged carbon fiber variant, and it’s nothing short of impressive.

Why Ivios?

Ivios has been making waves with their innovative films, especially in the realm of color PPF, which gained significant traction in 2024. One standout feature of their film is its exceptional hydrophobic properties—nothing seems to stain it! This forged carbon fiber film, dubbed “Kaiser,” is one of the coolest we’ve seen, and we couldn’t wait to get it on our Cybertruck.

Getting Started: Tools and Preparation

For this install, we’re using our Pro Template, which offers more coverage compared to our DIY kits. Before diving into the installation, we ensure the Cybertruck’s surface is spotless. A clean surface is critical to a smooth application, so we wipe down the area thoroughly and apply a slip solution (essentially soapy water) to make the film easier to position.

The Installation Process

1. Reverse Rolling Technique

We begin with a method called reverse rolling, popular among professional installers. This technique helps manage the film more easily during placement, especially when installing alone. After hydrating both the surface and the film, we start dislodging the film from its backing and position it on the Cybertruck.

2. Adjusting Slip Solution

During our initial placement, we noticed the film was extremely tacky—more than expected. To counter this, we increased the slip solution, allowing the film to float better on the surface. For color PPF on the Cybertruck stainless steel, we generally recommend using more slip solution than with standard PPF on standard paint. This gives you more working time and flexibility during alignment.

3. Floating and Aligning

Once the film is floating smoothly, we align it starting from key points—the corners of the panel. This step is crucial to ensure a flawless finish. We introduce tack solution (a mix of alcohol and distilled water) to anchor these alignment points, ensuring the film doesn’t shift as we work on other sections.

4. Tackling Bubbles and Edges

With the film positioned, we work out any bubbles by squeegeeing from the center outward. Holding the squeegee correctly and applying even pressure is essential to avoid missed spots. For stubborn areas, we use additional tack solution, which softens the adhesive and helps the film settle perfectly.

The Final Touches

Once the main surface is covered, we move to the edges. The Pro Template provides extra material, giving us ample coverage for a seamless look. However, for tight areas like around the Cybertruck’s headlight bar, we recommend removing the bar for easier access and a cleaner finish.

Letting the edges dry thoroughly before tucking them ensures a strong bond and prevents any lifting over time. For professional installers, making relief cuts at strategic points helps the film conform to complex curves without bunching or visible seams. Our DIY kits come with all the pre-cut relief cuts you need to install successfully.

The Result

The final result is nothing short of spectacular. The forged carbon fiber PPF from Ivios gives the Cybertruck a bold, unique look while providing top-notch protection. The gloss finish enhances the Cybertruck’s futuristic design, making it a head-turner on the road.

Final Thoughts

Ivios has truly impressed us with their forged carbon fiber PPF. The installation process highlighted the film’s quality and ease of use, even with its aggressive tackiness. For those looking to customize their vehicles with durable, eye-catching PPF, Ivios is a brand to watch.

Happy wrapping!
